Wrinkles are Pretty Don’t abandon Them in Their Second Innings

“To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.” —  Tia Walker

India is developing rapidly and with the new era arriving it seems that people too are changing, and are moving away from their roots and retiring their parents to the Old Age Homes. Old age homes were designed to provide a shelter to old ones who were homeless and had no one to take care in the last phase of their life. Now-a-days children leave their parents at the mercy of these homes to never to come back.

Students of SAI International College of Commerce, Rotaract Club visited Mohini Pramila Old Age Home, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar on February 20, 2019. Interacting with its inhabitants made the students understand the suffering and the loneliness of the abandoned life, their grief of being away from their children and the loss of loved ones.

They shared their experiences, memories and life-journey with the students and got emotional. The founder discussed how this old-age home was born for needy parents, staying alone, without any support in concrete jungles & empty nests.

They shared their happiness of living together under one roof inspite of being strangers to each other. Fun games, song performances, music and art activities for the elderly people brought a smile on their faces and tears of happiness in their eyes.
