Mentor’s training session
“Learning never exhausts the mind.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
It is said to keep learning and your mind will be sharpened. The more one learns the better the brain functions. SAI International College of Commerce held a teacher’s training workshop on July 2, 2018, the session was taken by the Senior Vice Principal, SAI International School, Shri Nilakantha Panigrahi on the topic of Digitisation of teaching resources.
The session was attended by all the faculty members and also by the non-teaching staff of SICC. They shared their ideas about digitisation of teaching resources and materials. Shri Panigrahi brought forward that the effectiveness of every teacher can be measured by tracking the systematic documentation of Micro Lesson Planning and Daily Report Book.
A Micro Lesson Plan is a complete and inclusive framework of the topics and sub-topics that are expected to be taught in one class of a subject. This micro lesson plan will be instrumental in identifying the discrepancy between the expected potential outcome and actual realisation in one class. The building block of every micro lesson plan is through comprehensive Session Planning of every subject. A session plan is the curriculum break-up of the prescribed syllabus in a class wise, chapter wise and unit wise format. The session plan has to be made for all the subjects that are taught as a part of the Utkal University curriculum in the college by the respective subject teachers.
The fundamental requirement for framing a session plan would be by zeroing down on the total number of teaching periods in an entire academic session from the total number of working days and instructional days available. For constructing a lesson plan the basic prerequisite is by identifying the prospective student of every category (i.e. achievers, mediocre and slow learners), setting the learning objective and timeline for completion of every subject.
Such sessions play a vital role in enhancing teacher’s skills. Especially a session on digitisation of teaching resource is imperative as the world is going digital and so are the students and it’s important for the teachers to walk in alignment with the students and make them comprehend things accordingly.
It was an extremely interesting and interactive session for SICC members.
