Udbodhana 2019

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” — John F. Kennedy

As part of the Udbodhana 2019, Leadership Development Program of SICC, a lecture on the topic, “Pulwama Attack and India’s Foreign Policy” was conducted on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in collaboration with Anant Aspen Centre.

Guest Speaker Ms. Indrani Bagchi, Sr. Editor, Times of India gave the students a glimpse into the backdrop that led to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Discussing on the current challenges and opportunities of India’s prime foreign policy Ms. Bagchi threw light on how the country can be put on a better platform to deal with the “humanity-targeting-epidemic”. She went on to highlight that, with the rising disturbance between both the countries, there is also a growing demand and pressure from the youth of the country for a larger impact statement and action by the government.

Ms. Bagchi has been reporting and analyzing Foreign Policy Issues, Indian Strategic Policy, Terrorism, Nuclear and National Security Issues and International Diplomatic Relations since the last 15 years.

The session provided a unique opportunity for the students of SICC to gain insight into one of the vital issues of the Nation through interaction with the expert speaker and understand India’s prime foreign policy. The opening of question-answer session made the discussion interesting and participative as the students developed a new dimension of their perspective and refurbished their line of thinking beyond a prosaic version of the matter.
